DETROIT RETIREES GOING AFTER THE DETROIT ART INSTITUTE ARTWORKS

Detroit Retirees Demand DIA Art Assessment: A committee of Detroit’s retirees has panned the city’s revised bankruptcy plan and is calling for more information on the value of the collection of the Detroit Institute of Arts. The committee filed a subpoena demanding 35 categories of records from the museum, some of which date as far back as 1919.”In light of the City’s actions, it would be foolish for the Committee to stand on the sidelines and not assess the value of the art,” said Michael Karwoski, a retired city attorney and member of the committee.
